Friends of the Library

Who are the Friends?

The Friends are a volunteer, nonprofit group made up of community members. Anybody age 18 and up are welcome to join. Members are dedicated to supporting the activities of the Itasca Community Library by fundraising and providing awareness of library services and resources.

What do we do?

The Friends come up with interesting fundraising ideas and support staff in library-sponsored events that build stronger community and offer greater opportunities to residents of all ages. We are always looking for new creative projects.

They achieve their mission in the following ways:

  • Sponsor and staff book sales and other fundraising events.
  • Sponsor programs and exhibits within the library.
  • Volunteer at library-sponsored events.
  • Encourage gifts & contributions to the library.
  • Assist in educating other residents about library programs and services.

When do we meet?

Meetings are held the first Tuesday of every other month at 7:00 p.m. at the Itasca Community Library. Annual membership meetings are held in November. If you are unable to attend the meetings but wish to help out, we welcome your participation in assisting us.

The Gift Foundation

To help fund new library programs and services, the Itasca Community Library has joined the DuPage Community Foundation.  This foundation receives contributions and bequests into a permanent Itasca Community Library Endowment that will continue to grow and help meet the needs of our library.  Donations made to the library’s endowment are tax-deductible.

The Itasca Community Library is proud of its reputation for friendly, individualized service while maintaining vast resources for the diverse needs of our patrons.  The library is a reflection of our community – an illumination of our lives – and home to the village’s knowledge, imagination, and history.  For more than 75 years, we have been a mainstay in the community.  But now, we need your support.
