The Itasca Garden Club: Tracing the Transformation of a Rural Village into a Suburban Center

Our 10th gallery exhibit will be on display on the mezzanine level of the library from April 15 through July 8.

This new exhibit is a celebration of more than 80 years of the Garden Club, and shows the important role that the Garden Club played in the development of the Village of Itasca. Gerald Danzer, fifty-year resident and professor, wrote a short book on the history of the Itasca Garden Club that corresponds with the library exhibit. Please come to the library to read Mr. Danzer’s book and enjoy a pictorial history of the Garden Club from 1930 to the present.

In conjunction with the exhibit, Professor Gerald Danzer gave a brief talk on Monday, April 29. The Itasca Garden Club, founded in 1929, was a key agent in the transformation of the rural village into a suburban center. Come and learn more about this little known story.
