Ricardo Somocuricio, who is from Miraflores, Peru, falls in love with a girl who says she is from Chile. She soon disappears when it is revealed that she is Peruvian. As Ricardo grows older and becomes a translator for UNESCO, He never forgets the Chilean girl and is reunited with her and her alter egos throughout his life during his travels to Lima, Paris, London, Madrid and even Japan.
The Bad Girl is said to be a retelling of Gustave Flaubert’s novel Madame Bovary, so now I want to read that book also. This is a love story between Ricardo and Lily who met one summer when they are both very young. He never really pursues her again after that summer, but their lives continually cross paths as he pursues his dream of living in Paris.
