The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck

Recommended by Colleen in Outreach Services…

Colleen’s synopsis:
The epic story of a family’s journey across America in the dust bowl/depression era of the 1930’s.

She says:
This is one of my all-time favorite books. I enjoy it for different reasons every time I read it. I like the way Steinbeck alternates chapters between the Joad family struggle and the larger picture of the migrants struggle as a whole. This book has not lost any of its social impact even though it was originally published in 1939.
