Her Synopsis:
This novel takes place in Galveston, Texas in the months leading up to the Great Hurricane of 1900.  It’s a poignant, and often humorous look at the working poor during the Jim Crow era.

I enjoyed this book.  The characters were all interesting and engaging.  Some of the chapters were quite funny and others brought me to tears.
