In 1974, a man walks on a cable suspended between the Twin Towers. On the ground, a young Irish monk lives with the prostitutes and the poor, a mother meets up with others who have lost sons in Vietnam an artistic couple has to live with a terrible secret and a young woman has to come to terms with her past, all while the world spins on.
I love the way the author intertwines the story of a high wire artist walking between the World Trade Center towers with the stories of so many other people as well as New York itself. “The world spins. We stumble on.”
