What's New in Youth Services

Summer Reading Clubs
May 27 - August 11
Starting May 27, you can register to join one of our "Get in the Game - READ!" Summer Reading Clubs.  There is a reading club for every age level: Adult, Young Adult, and Youth.  Participants just need to read books in order to earn prizes.  To join, register for the club at the library’s Circulation Desk starting May 27.  Prizes can be picked up starting June 9.  A valid library card is required in order to participate.

Additional Playaways Added to Youth Collection
The Youth Department recently added 30 new titles to its Playaway audiobooks collection.  From classics like A Secret Garden and A Little Princess to soon-to-be classics like Inkheart and The Looking Glass Wars, you are sure to find a Playaway to enjoy!  A Playaway is a self-playing digital audiobook that comes pre-loaded on a small storage device.  All you need is a set of headphones - nothing else - and you have everything you need to listen to a great book.  Playaways are great for listening to on long summer vacation car rides!

Book-a-Trip Travel Kits
If you are going on vacation and would like for the Youth Department staff to put together a bag of books for your child to enjoy based on their interests and your travel desitation, stop by the Youth Help Desk to pick up a Travel Kit application.  Just fill out the form and return it to the Youth Department staff at least one week prior to when you want to pick up the kit.  This is for Itasca Community Library card holders only.
