Encyclopedias are an excellent place to start when you’re baffled by a research topic. They give you the basics and help you map out the next steps of your research.
Textbooks can be really expensive as you know. If you give us a month’s notice, we’ll try and get them for you via Interlibrary Loan, a service that allows you to borrow books from another library.
College & Career Shelf offers a number of books related to graduate school exam guides (eg: GRE, GMAT, LSAT, etc.) as well as books dealing with topics related to careers (eg: career guides, resume-writing, interviewing).

Research

Databases are a great alternative to researching the web. They offer the most updated information from reputable sources like scholarly journals or newspapers. You can even access them from home with an Itasca Library Card and PIN.

Web Guides make it easier for you to find reputable information online. We’ve gathered what we felt were the best sources on various subjects and put them all in one place for you.

Computers

Internet Stations allow you to surf the internet, but they’re are also equipped with Microsoft’s Word, Powerpoint, and Excel software so you can type up papers or create presentations. These stations also have WinWay Deluxe, a software for writing resumes.
Computer Rooms are equipped with Microsoft and Adobe products.
Wireless internet connection is available at-no-charge for patrons with a laptop equipped with a wireless card.

Chat With Us is an instant-messaging service great for when you need to get in touch with an Itasca librarian.
Ask Away Illinois is chat service that’s available to you 24/7. A librarian is available to answer whatever questions you might have.

Study Areas

Group Study Room is available for when your classmates and you are working on a project. It can accommodate up to 6 people.
Study Carrels are perfect for when you need to concentrate for your next exam.
