The library encourages you to read this winter by joining our Winter Reading Club, Unwrap a Good Book! Read for at least 8 hours anytime from December 12 – January 31 and you will earn a gift of your own to unwrap! To be a part of the Winter Reading Club, please sign up at either the Youth Help Desk or the Circulation Desk.

Postcards to Santa
Did you know Santa Claus loves to read? The library at the North Pole is one of his favorite places to visit, so we’re looking for some good book recommendations to send him. Kids can stop by the Youth Help Desk anytime before Wednesday, December 14th and fill out a postcard to send to Santa. Then our library staff – with its many connections to the North Pole – will make sure that Santa Claus sends a postcard to your child.
Forget your textbook at school?
We can help! If your child ever forgets one of their textbooks at school, come check out the Homework Shelf at the library. Textbooks from Benson, Franzen, Peacock, Lake Park, and other area schools are available for in-house use at all times that the library is open. Please remember that these textbooks are the property of the schools, and the library is housing them for the convenience of the students.
Reading Challenge Ending Soon
Just a reminder that the last day for the Youth Department’s fall reading challenge, Fall Into a Good Book!, is Monday, November 7. If you haven’t yet, finish up your reading and stop by the Youth Help Desk to claim your prize.
Fall Into a Good Book! Reading Challenge
We know the new school year brings plenty of homework, textbooks, and after-school activities. It’s important, though, that you still make sure to take time to read for fun! To help you with this, the Youth Services Department is offering the Fall Into a Good Book! Youth Reading Challenge. Beginning Tuesday, September 6th, drop by the Youth Help Desk and pick up a reading challenge to complete by Monday, November 7th. Children that complete the challenge will win a certificate for a free kids’ meal from Applebee’s and a small prize.
