			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Did you know Santa Claus loves to read?  The library at the North Pole is one of his favorite places to visit, so we’re looking for some good book recommendations to send him.  Kids can stop by the Youth Help Desk anytime before Wednesday, December 14<sup>th</sup> and fill out a postcard to send to Santa.  Then our library staff &#8211; with its many connections to the North Pole &#8211; will make sure that Santa Claus sends a postcard to your child.</p>

Please remember that these textbooks are the property of the schools, and the library is housing them for the convenience of the students.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Sign up for an exciting fall reading challenge for kids beginning September 7th.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We know the new school year brings plenty of  homework, textbooks, and after-school activities.  It’s important, though, that you still make sure to take time to read for fun!  To help you with this, the Youth Services Department is offering the <em>Fall Into a Good Book!</em> Youth Reading Challenge.  Beginning Tuesday, September 6<sup>th</sup>, drop by the Youth Help Desk and pick up a reading challenge to complete by Monday, November 7<sup>th</sup>.  Children that complete the challenge will win a certificate for a free kids’ meal from Applebee’s and a small prize.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In conjunction with the Village of Itasca&#8217;s celebration of National Night Out, the library will sponsor the following activities on Tuesday, August 2:</p>
<p><strong>Water Balloon Burst (West parking lot) at 5:30-7:00 p.m.</strong><br />
Take your best shot and try to &#8220;dunk&#8221; community officials!  Throw a ball at the target in order to pop a water balloon over the head of officials from the police department, fire department, village hall, School District 10, and the library.</p>

<p>Chris Petit is the winner of the &#8220;How   Many Dragon Eggs in the Jar?&#8221; quiz for kids.  Chris correctly guessed  that there  were 65 eggs in the jar in this quiz that was featured in  the Youth  Department throughout the month of June.  Danni Rodriguez was  the winner of the &#8220;Talk Like a Knight!&#8221; quiz for teens.</p>
<p>344 kids and teens in total  participated in the June quizzes.</p>
<p>Make sure to visit the Youth Services and Young Adult Departments soon because there are new quizzes for the month of July!</p>
